Importing COBOL data structures in z/OS Connect EE V3.0 API toolkit on Linux OS generates an import wizard error.

Question & Answer

Question

I'm trying to import a COBOL data structure using the z/OS Connect EE V3.0 API toolkit on Linux. I run into an error saying that the import wizard has not found any valid structure declarations, and in the error log in Eclipse, I see an error message:

 > RunCommandLinux.runCommand(..): Cannot
 > run program
 > "/opt/IBM/zOS_Explorer/../IBMIMShared/plugins/com.ibm.etools.cobol.linx_7.1.200.201706022205/....

Answer

Some Linux distributions no longer include 32-bit libraries, which the importer wizard requires. Instructions on how to resolve this problem are described in this Features that use the COBOL importer do not work properly topic in the IBM Developer for z Systems documentation.
