The z/OS UNIX dig command is used to query Domain Name Servers, which enables you to:
Exercise name servers
Gather large volumes of domain name information
Execute simple domain name queries
Execute multiple lookups from the command line
Unlike the TSO versions of both the NSLOOKUP command and the dig command, the z/OS UNIX dig command supports IPv6 queries.
