Question & Answer
Question
I tried unsuccessful to install the "Eclipse Docker Tooling for Neon" into "IBM CICS Explorer V5.4" due to the missing dependency below..
I started by installing the "Eclipse Marketplace" using the supplied update site "http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/htp/zos/tools/aqua/3.1/"
then attempted to install the Docker tools
What am I missing?
Answer
Hi Matthew,
Thanks for the question. By default, CICS Explorer and z/OS Explorer have an update site preconfigured that allows you to pull in components and tools that are tested together by IBM.
If you want to head "off piste" a bit and pull in your own code, like the Docker tooling, you might find that you have dependencies beyond those provided in the Explorer default update site.
In that case you will need to add any necessary extra update sites through the Preferences > Install/Update > Available Software Sites dialog. When you try and install your additional software, Explorer can consult these update sites for any required dependencies.
A good place to start is adding the main Eclipse update site (for CICS Explorer 5.4, we're built on Eclipse 4.6 so http://download.eclipse.org/releases/neon/ is the URL). This will likely resolve your missing dependencies, although bear in mind that you'll be pulling additional software which we won't be able to support.
