How can I verify OSPF adjacency to a DR/BDR?

Question & Answer

Question

How can I verify OSPF adjacency to a designated router (DR) or backup designated router (BDR)?

Answer

To verify OSPF adjacency to a designated router (DR) or backup designated router (BDR), issue this command:

 D TCPIP,,OMP,OSPF,NBR

Message EZZ7851I Neighbor Summary is first displayed.

A single line is then printed summarizing each neighbor.

A neighbor state of 128 ("Full") indicates that OMPROUTE has adjacency to that neighbor. If you have more than two neighbors (one being DR and other being BDR), then the other neighbors will show a state of 8 ("2-Way") to indicate 2-way OSPF communications with OMPROUTE.
