What are the advantages of IOBSNMP over IOASNMP?

Question & Answer

Question

What are the advantages of IOBSNMP over IOASNMP?

Answer

IOBSNMP is a replacement for IOASNMP.

While IOASNMP requires OSA/SF to communicate with the OSA, IOBSNMP does not.

IOASNMP connects to the TCPIP subagent. The TCPIP subagent then acts as a liaison between the SNMP agent and IOASNMP. In contrast, the IOBSNMP subagent connects directly to the SNMP agent. Consequently, IOBSNMP is a much faster and more efficient implementation of the OSA subagent.
