What would cause the following IZE0106E message when I attempt to connect my CICS Explorer V5.3 to my CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V5.3 region?
IZE0106E Connect failed with error "Basic Authentication Error" (hostname:portnumber)
I see no RACF errors in the logs. This is the error I see:

The Explorer Service Data showed that the connection type was for a "CICSPlex SM Data Interface" connection instead of a "CMCI" connection. I get the same IZE0106E message if I attempt to use a "CICSPlex SM Data Interface" connection to connect to the CMCI TCPIPSERVICE port using AUTHENTICATE(BASIC).
If you create a "CMCI" connection from the CICS Explorer "Host Connections" view, it should connect successfully.
