Question & Answer
Question
Why do I only see the EDF tracing of program DFHSJTHP when I start CEDX on the transaction CJSA? I do not see the LINK to the target CICS program or the execution of the target program. I have z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition (EE) V3.01 installed and an embedded z/OS Connect EE server running in a CICS JVM server.
I could not find anything in the documentation for either CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) or z/OS Connect EE indicating that this scenario is not supported. When I run z/OS Connect EE standalone server, I am able to use EDF with no problems tracing the target program.
I am running my z/OS Connect EE server in CICS with operationMode set to SYNC.
Answer
In addition to ensuring your CICS TS embedded zCEE server is configured with the following element tag...
<zosconnect_zosConnectManager operationMode="SYNC"/>
...you also need to review step 3 of the topic Troubleshooting Java applications in the CICS TS V5.3 documentation where it states:
If you use the default transaction CJSA, you must set the MAXACTIVE attribute to 1 on the DFHEDFTC transaction class. This setting is required because a number of CJSA tasks might be running and you might debug the wrong transaction. Do not use CEDX on the CJSA transaction in a production environment.
