PURGE of TASK is DEFERRED in CICS when using TraceMaster

Question

Why would I receive a DEFERRED response when I attempt to PURGE a TASK in CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS)? I frequently have CICS tasks in suspended status that I attempt to purge. I did try a FORCEPURGE and KILL but neither of these commands worked.

TraceMaster from MACRO 4 is on our system.

Answer

A dump of the CICS region, shows the reason the Purge is getting deferred is because the TASKs were put into a WAIT EXTERNAL wait with PURGABLE set to NO. The program that appears to be doing this is XT00DFH1 from MACRO 4:

MACRO 4 (M4) provided fix TMO01993 that they think will stop the tasks from becoming deferred when purged. Alternately, you can upgrade Tracemaster to V6.700B to fix the problem.
