Umbrella transaction id CICS CEDX

Question

When I specify the following CICS command : CEDX umbr_tran_id where umbr_tran_id is the transaction ID of an OMEGAMON Umbrella transaction I am receiving the following error message:

TRANSACTION umbr_tran_id NOT FOUND

Why am I getting this error message?

Answer

You cannot use CEDX with an Umbrella transaction, the OMEGAMON Umbrella transaction ID is only available to OMEGAMON XE for CICS on zOS and not to CICS.

OMEGAMON's Umbrella support does not change the EIBTRANID field. OMEGAMON, when configured for Umbrella, saves the umbrella transaction id in a 32-byte USER area within one of CICS's Task Related control blocks. So, there are no change to CICS's control blocks or EIBTRANID. The USER area is available to anyone who monitors a task.
