applied maintenance run WKANSAMU(KCIJPUSS) RC 3840 in step KCIJARPX

Question & Answer

Question

I am putting on maintenance for SMSz suite of OMEGAMON products. I ran the "load job" KCIJPLOD to copy from the SMP/E (TK*) datasets to the runtime datasets (RK*). Some of the PTFs say to run the WKANSAMU(KCIJPUSS) job that PARMGEN created but when I do, I get a RC 3480 in step KCIJARPX. Why am I getting this error? It looks like some of my system variables are not being resolved.

Answer

If a PTF tells you to run WKANSAMU(KCIJPUSS), it is best to run $PARSE in PARMGEN before you run this job. $PARSE or $PARSESV, if system variables are enabled, updates JCL, variables, etc in all the work datasets that PARMGEN created and uses to configure the OMEGAMONs. The work datasets are the high_level_qualifier.rtename.WK* datasets (for example WCONFIG, WKANSAMU, WKANPARU, etc).

The KCIJPUSS job is used to create USS directories and copy files to USS for the following products:

OMEGAMON for CICS TG Agent

OMEGAMON for JVM Agent

OMEGAMON for Messaging - Intergration Bus Agent

ITCAM for Application Diagnostics Agent

ITCAM for SOA Agent

So if you are installing a PTF for one of the products above, please run $PARSE or $PARSESV before running WKANSAMU(KCIJPUSS).
