DFHIR3777 The Interregion Communication Table is full

Question & Answer

Question

After the IPL, I began to receive message:

DFHIR3777 The interregion communication table is full.

The couple datasets have not been changed in years. Everything was running fine until our site IPL'd. I am unable to understand what has changed to cause us to receive this message.

Answer

As documented in the "User response" for message DFHIR3777:

A common cause for the DFHIR3777 message is the MAXGROUP or MAXMEMBER parameters are set too low in an XCF Sysplex environment. Check the values of MAXGROUP and MAXMEMBER and, if necessary, raise to suit your environment.

You can use the following commands to view the current values:

  • D XCF,COUPLE

  • D XCF,GROUP,DFHIR000

From a CICS perspective, there are only two things that would increase the number of members in use. The number of CICS regions increased, or the number of EXCI sessions in use has increased. Each CICS region takes up one slot. However, each EXCI session will take up a slot as well. Reference Generating XCF/MRO support for more information.
