SPSS Log in problem due to 'trial allready on this computer'

Question by Sijbrand  (16) | Apr 09, 2018 at 05:10 AM spssspsslicensingtrialsubscriptionstudenturgent

Dear,

Unfortunately I have a problem with running SPSS

I have a working log in code for a SPSS trial, which worked on my old/slow laptop, so I re-installed it. Deleted the old laptop also from the active devices, which means I can run the trial on my faster laptop. However, Loggin in on my new laptop isnt possible because it stated: "Sorry, you have already used an IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription trial on this machine"

I've never worked with SPSS before, So I think I've made a mistake during the installation? Is there any change to delete the history so I can use SPSS soon??

Thanks in advance

@Sijbrand
The trial can only be activated on one machine.
If you want to use machine B for the trial you need to deactivate machine A on IBM My Products and services page first. We cannot do this for you, as we cannot access the page with your view, you need to do this yourself.
To do so:
Please go to IBM My Products and Services:
https://myibm.ibm.com/products-services/products

On the icon for IBM Modeler Subscription click on "Manage" button next to the download button.

On next page, on the left site click on "Manage devices"

On Manage devices page you see the machine where the trial is activated. If you do not want to use this installation anymore during trial period, then click on "Deactivate" on right site of the machine information row.
Then you can install SPSS Subscription trial on the other machine and activate it with your IBM web ID during the registered trial period.

Dear BettinaW,

Thanks, but I already deactivate the old laptop from the device list.

The problem is that I can't log in on the new laptop because there was a trial on the device in the past. Maybe an old user had a SPSS trial, but for sure I haven't tested anything so far.

Could you please tell me how we can get rid of the message "Sorry, you have already used an IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription trial on this machine".

Thanks in advance,

@Sijbrand sorry but if the trial was already installed for another user on this other machine already you cannot install it again on this same PC with your user account. This is only a trial version and if you could remove it permannetly from OS you can install it again and again without purchase and this is not a legal option.

You can only use a computer where the trial was not installed or consider a student version purchase at a third party vendor. There are lots of discounts for students See here for a vendor list. There may be others in your region.

@BettinaW Thanks for your prompt reply. I understand the problem, and it's off course quite difficult to check if it's my first trial or tenth. I will try it on my old laptop and/or buy a student version

Thanks so far!
