There seems to be a problem with the ILMT agent on some of our Solaris 11 servers. We saw multiple processes of /opt/Tivoli/cit/bin/wscanhw which is part of ILMT. It was causing high CPU on the servers because of the multiple processes. Running processes: root 3072 3069 0 Jun 29 ? 0:00 /opt/tivoli/cit/bin/wscanhw -nolock -c /var/opt/BESClient/LMT/CIT/tlm_hw_config.xml -o /var/opt/BESClient/LMT/CIT/tlm_hw_scans/tlm_hw_201806290827_1530278838.xml Our admins asked us to see if we could find a fix. We are running the latest version of 9.2, 9.2.14.10

Hi,
Thank you for using the forum.
What CPU usage are you seeing? The process that you are showing doesn't appear to have used any, if I am reading that correctly. Which zone(s) are you seeing this on?
The BigFIx client uses about 2% CPU in normal operations aside from the scanning process, as noted here:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21683814
Also, as it notes, the hardware scan (wscanhw) uses minimal CPU under normal circumstances.
Do have anything showing this process using high CPU?

@LMT-LRP There were maybe 2 dozen wscanhw process running at the same time. All were using small CPU but multiplied by 24 is a lot. We think these are short running processes but maybe not completing or duplicating itself.

Hi,
9.2.14 is the version of BigFix. What is the version of ILMT? Also, what is the version of the scanners running on the computers in questions?
The scanner version can be determined from the BIgFix console using the "Scanner Information' analysis.
It can also be found in the /etc/cit/cit.ini file.
Are you seeing this behavior on the Local zones, Global, or both?
