DFHZC4960I after applying VTAM maintenance

Question & Answer

Question

After applying VTAM maintenance, why am I receiving message:

DFHZC4960 I date time applid CICS has not been able to notify z/OS Communications Server that it will handle detection of BMS 3270 intrusion detection

I also just installed CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V5.4 but I do not think it matters what release of CICS I am using.

Answer

The DFHZC4960I message is issued when a user TCT has not been regenerated with the z/OS Communications Server 3270 intrusion detection services capability macros. This function was added by VTAM APAR OA49911 (PTF UA91458).

VTAM provides documentation on its use. See z/OS Communications Server OA49911 - VTAM 3270 Intrusion Detection Services - Overview, Considerations, and Assessment (Prerequisite)

For CICS, this means that you need to regenerate your TCTs and restart CICS.
