Question
Why would my CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) region that runs with CA Date Simulator stop responding and appear to be in a tight loop? CICSPlex SM (CPSM) put out the following messages:
EYUCS0207W cmas Connected MAS applid is not responding - APPLID(applid) CICSplex(plex)
EYUPN0005W cmas Notify created for SAM Context=plex, Target=applid, Sev=HW, Event=!!SAMNRM, Text=Non-responsive
Answer
CA Technologies provided fix TF1D336 for CA Date Simulator. The fix corrects intermittent S0C4/AKEA abends in CICS module DFHERM caused by Date Simulator during the initiation of a transaction that is being warped.
Using IPCS command VERBX DFHPDxxx 'TR=1' (where "xxx" varies with the release of CICS) to display the CICS trace in a system dump that was taken at the time of the hang shows the following exception trace entry:
DS 0068 DSSR *EXC* SUSP_ALREADY_SUSPENDED FUNCTION(SUSPEND)
SUSPEND_TOKEN(00610005) PURGEABLE(NO)
WLM_WAIT_TYPE(LOCK) RETRY(YES)
This task's current program was CMRTRUEX and in the PG domain it puts out the following error:
DFHPD0105 A loop has been detected. PLCB at address 3857D788 already encountered.
Its PLCB control block points to itself. The QR TCB is in a tight loop in DFHAPEX looping on this PLCB chain. At the time of the loop CICS is trying to put out the following message:
DFHDS0002 applid A severe error (code X'0068') has occurred in module
