Many of you have used the API Management Service on Bluemix that allows you to manage the lifecycle of your APIs and socialize with the developer community while enforcing security & rate limits around your APIs.
Earlier this year we released IBM API Connect for Bluemix with a new set of capabilities and enhanced experience to provide a comprehensive API Lifecycle foundation. With IBM Strongloop integrated, API Connect provides new capabilities in addition to the Manage & Secure features offered by API Management. This includes capabilities that allow you to rapidly Create APIs using a a model driven approach and the ability to publish & run microservices & APIs to Bluemix through an integrated user experience. It also includes a brand new API designer that lets you define new APIs, deploy them, and test them locally on your laptop. API Connect provides a complete set of Command Line Interfaces (CLIs) thus integrating & automating your DevOps.
As a result, we’d like to inform you that we are retiring the API Management service on June 14, 2016.
Here’s what you need to know:
End of Marketing Date: July 14, 2016
As of July 14, 2016, the service tile will be removed from the Bluemix catalog, and you will no longer be able to provision new API Management instances. However, existing instances will continue to be supported.
End of Support Date: July 21, 2017
For a period of 365 days after the service retirement date, through June 14, 2017, all existing instances will continue to be available to users through their Bluemix dashboard, and will continue to be supported by API Management.
Any instance still provisioned as of the End of Support Date will be deleted.
Users are therefore asked to unprovision their API Management service instance(s) prior to the End of Support Date.
We encourage existing API Management service users to migrate to the API Connect service on Bluemix. See our Blogs for more information on key features of IBM API Connect, on how to get started and also on how you could use Open API Definitions format (Swagger) to define APIs in IBM API Connect. Happy Connecting!
