IBM Cloud for Financial Services: An opportunity for developers
Create, modernize, and integrate apps with a catalog of secure, reliable services
Developers in regulated industries looking to move to cloud infrastructure are getting a boost today. IBM announced advances in the IBM Cloud for Financial Services that address the need for searching through the matrix of compliance and policy requirements that can slow down application development.
With this pioneering platform, financial segment developers will be able to modernize, architect, and create apps using virtual machines or containers, and integrate them with a catalog of secured, reliable services. IBM public cloud is already the industry’s most open and secure public cloud for business, creating a foundation to build enterprise-grade applications with a full range of security and privacy offerings and approaches, and state-of-the-art Keep Your Own Key cryptography.
The new IBM Cloud for Financial Services introduces the IBM Cloud Policy Framework for Financial Services, which provides developers with the industry-informed IBM public cloud controls to operate securely with bank-sensitive data in the public cloud.
We’re announcing that several global banks and dozens of ISVs are joining this growing ecosystem and adopting IBM Cloud for Financial Services to leverage its innovative security and compliance capabilities. We’re opening the door for enterprise developers to build solutions that will work across highly regulated industries — including healthcare, insurance, telco, and more.
Security and compliance are key to unlocking the true value of the cloud, and we want that to be one less thing you have to worry about when you’re building high-performance solutions. Today’s announcements are the latest step on that journey for enterprise developers.
Earlier this year we announced general availability of the Red Hat OpenShift on IBM Z architecture, allowing for easier development of applications that work across your infrastructure. We also previously announced the availability of Red Hat Ansible Certified Content for IBM Z, and launched IBM Wazi for Red Hat CodeReady Workspaces, addressing onboarding challenges and making cloud-native development on IBM Z a reality, allowing you to choose from a variety of IDEs for day-to-day development tasks.
You will find IBM Z in highly regulated industries, but also as the technology underpinning key as-a-service confidential computing capabilities in IBM Cloud. IBM’s portfolio of technologies (including IBM Z, Red Hat OpenShift, and those that underpin IBM Cloud for Financial Services) creates a secured and high-performing compute fabric that is ideal for the requirements of financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and transportation industries.
How does this help you as a developer? We’re equipping you with tools and resources, along with the selection and guard rails you prefer, to help you focus your efforts entirely on innovation. We’re helping you build smart, and build securely.
