After your partitioned database is in production in a cloud environment, you want to make sure the the size of the partitions is appropriate. It’s a good practice to check that no one partition is larger than the others, and that the load is being evenly distributed across the partitions.
You can learn some techniques for gathering data to help with partition sizing on an existing database: See Partitioned Databases – Sizing.
And for more information, see the Cloudant documentation.
Now you have some tips to work with partitioned databases in the cloud. You can try them out for free with Cloudant as part of IBM Cloud.
Directing a query to a single partition uses a fraction of the database's resources.
Design an application's data to drive faster performance, lower cost, and future scalability.
Copy over data while modifying each document's key field on the way.
