Apache OpenWhisk

Build cloud applications using an open source serverless platform.

Apache OpenWhisk is an open source Function-as-a-Service (Faas) platform that allows you to execute functions remotely while responding to events. OpenWhisk offers a rich programming model and supports a growing list of languages, including Node.js, Java, Python, and more.

In 2016, just prior to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) accepting the Apache OpenWhisk project as an incubating project, the OpenWhisk codebase was already being used as the underlying technology for IBM Cloud Functions. In 2019, Apache OpenWhisk graduated to an ASF Top-Level-Project.
