Apache OpenWhisk

Build cloud applications using an open source, serverless platform.

Apache OpenWhisk is an open source, function as a service (FaaS) platform that allows you to execute functions remotely while responding to events. OpenWhisk offers a rich programming model and supports a growing list of languages, including Node.js, Java, and Python.

In 2016, just prior to when the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) accepted the OpenWhisk project as an incubating project, the OpenWhisk codebase was used as the underlying technology for IBM Cloud Functions. In 2019, Apache OpenWhisk graduated to an ASF Top Level Project.
