Install Cloud Pak for Data from the IBM Cloud catalog

Until recently, customers had to install the latest version of IBM Could Pak for Data manually. IBM is now offering the ability to install IBM Cloud Pak for Data via a tile in the IBM Cloud catalog. This makes the process of getting IBM Cloud Pak for Data up and running much quicker by simplifying and streamlining many of the previous installation steps. This tutorial covers the steps and tips to complete the process.

Installing IBM Cloud Pak for Data via the IBM Cloud catalog consists of two high-level steps: installing Red Hat OpenShift and then IBM Cloud Pak for Data on that instance of OpenShift.

Red Hat OpenShift

Red Hat OpenShift allows developers to develop, deploy, and run containerized applications. It enables them to take advantage of both containerized applications and orchestration without having to the know the details, so they’re then free to focus on code.

Red Hat OpenShift is the primary container environment for all IBM’s hybrid cloud offerings and has become the preferred Kubernetes platform for IBM to address the needs of increasingly critical container workloads.
