Discover, analyze, and visualize data with IBM BigInsights
Important: We are upgrading our courses learning portal. Please visit the Migration Information tab for more information.
IBM BigInsights is a software platform that helps organizations discover and analyze business insights that might be hidden in large volumes of a diverse range of data—data that’s often ignored or discarded because it’s too impractical or difficult to process. Examples of such data include log records, social media data (sentiment analysis), news feeds, machine data and electronic sensor output, and even some transactional data. To help organizations efficiently derive value from such data, BigInsights uses several open source technologies (including Apache™ Hadoop™) and other IBM technologies.
In this course, you’ll extract machine data from a car rental service. In the rental car industry, the daily rate for a car can fluctuate depending on the day of the week, time of day, and length of rental. The business goal is to monitor a standard feed for those fluctuations in daily rates so that your organization can become more competitive and improve the accuracy of the rate pricing pro.
When you finish this course, you should understand how to:
- Analyze text and create an extractor by using BigInsights
- Export and publish the extractor results
- Create reports, such as pie charts to better visualize the results
- Use Big SQL to automatically create and configure an SQL table that contains the data you extracted and published
