You can use a command line interface (CLI) based utility wchtools to work with content, assets, and content model artifacts for Watson Content Hub.The wchtools is an open source utility that you can install from GitHub. You can use the tool to upload and download from your Watson Content Hub tenant. You can also use this tool to install sample content artifacts to your tenant, to bulk upload assets, and to trigger a publishing job.

Getting started samples

The getting started samples show you how to work with the IBM Watson Content Hub APIs such as populating your tenant with sample artifacts that you can then use in the other samples that you want try.

Add sample artifacts to your tenant

Populate your tenant with sample artifacts from the sample-article-content repository before you can develop web applications with the article-related samples. Follow the instructions in the repository to download the sample artifacts and to push them to your tenant by using wchtools.


Retrieve and display a published content item on a page

Explore the IBM Watson Content Hub Search capabilities by calling the authenticated search API from client JavaScript and from Node.js and using the document data that is returned as part of the search results.

Oslo is a pre-installed responsive sample website provided with the standard edition of Watson content hub. The sample site illustrates what you can create by using Watson Content Hub. Download the site source and use it as a starting point for customizing your own website.

Display a carousel that shows a list of articles with images from Watson Content Hub by using jQuery and Bootstrap. Authenticate to the Watson Content Hub, retrieve a list of content items for a specific content type, access, and render content item elements and build a carousel display.


Create an article with images

Create a new Article content item by uploading a resource, creating an asset, and then including the asset image you created in the new article. You can then use this new article to display in the sample-article-carousel.


Access assets through IBM Watson Content Hub Asset Picker from client JavaScript

Launch the Watson Content Hub Picker to view the available assets and retrieve the JSON definition of an asset from the Watson Content Hub and customize the assets that are displayed in the picker.


Reference assets by name in an application

Use the Watson Content Hub assets in a page or an application by referencing the asset name instead of the asset path. The sample-use-assets-by-name sample provides helper code to reference Content Hub assets by their asset name.


Render WCH content items and search results in client-side template

The sample provides helper code to convert static text and image references in any HTML page to dynamic content from WCH and to include dynamic content spots to automatically retrieve and render WCH content or search results with Handlebars templates.
