Skill Level: Any

This tutorial is intended for customers of both WCA and WMI. WMI Standard Edition is required.

  1. Ensure CUSTOMER_NO is correctly defined in you your delimited file

    The process that imports data from the WCA database looks for a business key in the WCA database and places it in CUSTOMER_NO. In order for your delimited file to merge with data imported from the WCA database, there must be a match on the column CUSTOMER_NO. To ensure the match, the delimited file must follow these rules for CUSTOMER_NO in order to correctly merge:

    • In the case of multiple keys, they are concatenated and separated by dashes.
    • In the case of a keyless database, the WCA Recipient Id is placed in CUSTOMER_NO, since it is the default within the WCA application when defining a keyless database.
  2. Import the delimited file

    Import the delimited file to WMI.

    CUSTOMER_NO, CHURN_IND, and TOTAL_PURCHASE_AMT are required targets of the models.

    Attrition also requires two or more more valid predictors, which can be any string or numeric colums.

    Here is an example.

    curl -X POST --header 'Content-Type: application/json' --header 'Accept: application/json' --header
    'Authorization: APIKey yourapikeyvalue' -d
    "mode": "merge",
    "profile": "customer_profile",
    "fields": ["CUSTOMER_NO","CHURN_IND","TOTAL_PURCHASE_AMT",predictor1,predictor2,…],
    "source": {
    "type": "objectStoreFile",
    "container": "import",
    "object": "customer_profile_sample_encrypted.csv",
    }' 'https://wmi-rest-api-r1.watsonmarketinginsights.ibm.com/api/v1/import

Expected outcome

This procedure demonstrates how to enable additional behavior models by importing data in a delimited file.

You can also enable additional behavior models to WMI by adding columns to your WCA database. Refer to Adding attrition, CLTV, and pulse analysis models using WCA database.
