Let’s take some time to dig deeper into how Db2 Warehouse (hybrid Cloud offering) can further help with Simplification and Cost savings. As we touched upon earlier, Db2 Warehouse is based on Db2 BLU acceleration engine with in-built Netezza/Oracle compatibility, providing MPP (massively parallel processing) capabilities using columnar, in-memory database.
On top of that, it’s Dockerized for ease of packaging, distribution and setup. Here are some additional benefits and key competitive elements that one can look up to. Db2 Warehouse is suited for Private cloud implementation and the Customer has the full control and ownership around its setup and hardware requirements. It also adheres to simplifying the data governance aspects as the data remains closer to the User base.
– Leverage infrastructure of your choice in a Hybrid Cloud Architecture:
Db2 Warehouse provides a true Software defined environment with the ability to easily tap into the resource pool that is thrown at it. The engine auto configures and fine tune to the available hardware.
It can provide excellent performance results with minimal hardware, resulting in disk savings with database Compression and the avoidance of the need for indexes. One can use any kind of Virtual (such as VMware) or bare metal servers in conjunction with SAN or NAS storage and ability to throttle the network speed based on available resources. IN addition, consolidation is an effective approach to controlling costs; the environments must be able to support consolidation without forcing expensive and time consuming migrations and re-development.  Db2 Warehouse can help alleviate migration costs through the “Drop and Load” capabilities.
The architecture and design allows it to be an attractive proposition to run on any Virtual Private Cloud such as (Bluemix/Softlayer, AWS, Azure and others).
– Ease of Implementation (simplicity and flexibility):
The containerized image can be deployed minimal effort. It can be installed with a single Docker command and operational within minutes of initial download.  In addition, there are no additional fine tuning or configuration tasks (such as creating tablespaces and mapping to underlying storage volumes etc.). It is simply LOAD and GO, allowing to focus on the business needs rather a monotonous administration tasks. Systems sharing common hardware and the Cloud must be able to coexist and not encroach on each other’s ability to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).  Db2 Warehouse can demonstrate such Concurrency and that multiple databases could be managed to share a common cluster of servers by utilizing Workload Management (WLM) technology. Yes, it can easily scale up and scale out (Cloud Elasticity) and scale back in to save licensing costs.
This comes up a lot and with the sprawl of so many different databases and cloud infrastructure, it is really difficult to get a 1:1 comparison. But rest assured, we have done some serious benchmarks that provide the confidence to not only compete with the other leading Cloud Data Warehousing solutions, but with capabilities of Spark integration, in-memory tuning and Adaptive Work Load Managed (WLM), it can provide high concurrency and high speed performance for complex queries involving large number of join operations.
-Netezza (PDA), Oracle and language compatibility:
Oracle Compatibility will let you port Java or PL/SQL applications with minimal migration. For all the Netezza fans, you can get the peace of mind of having the ability to leverage most of the supported SQL and operational functionality into Db2 Warehouse. It is supported by any existing Analytics tools such as Tableau, Cognos, MicroStategy, SPSS, and SAS along with full support for all major languages including R, Python, Java, ODBC, etc.  
-Real Time Analytics with Integrated Spark engine:
One of the unique feature with Db2 Warehouse is the embedded Spark engine that can be used to address variety of use cases such an in-database analytics, ELT operations on data, data pipeline and streaming integration with the database and lot more. Db2 Warehouse can also be used as a target for IBMs Change Data Capture (CDC) Replication, which can replicate directly from Oracle as well as other existing data sources including those running on the mainframe without impact on the operational environment.  Alternatively, Db2 Warehouse provides a High-Speed Self Service Load Utility. Also, a new High Speed Concurrent Ingestion capability is now available along with the external tables support.
