WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager V8.5 and 9 customers can now apply the new features available in WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager continuous feature and fixpack (CF) release 15.
Beginning with the release of IBM WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager V8.5, the IBM Digital Experience (DX) technical leads have delivered a steady stream of ‘continuous feature and fixpack’ (CF) releases’ that can be applied to DX solutions. These CF packages can add valuable new features and enhancements to your deployments, and are cumulative, so that all updates are carried forward to subsequent CF releases.
The WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager V8.5 and V9 CF 15 extends the continuous delivery model and provides new (and cumulative) enhancements and fixes for customers using the DX Version 8.5 and Version 9 platform.
What’s New in the Combined Cumulative Fix (CF) 15?
The Combined Cumulative Fix (CF 15) introduces new features and updates designed to improve platform performance, enable content authors to apply cognitive and AI technologies to boost reception of their content to target audiences, and offers integration to render digital assets such as video, images, files and more from Watson Content Hub cloud-based CMS repositories in Web Content Manager V9 site pages.
Cognitive content authoring
Starting with CF15, the advanced text editing option, Textbox.IO, included with CF11 and higher, can be integrated with several IBM Watson services, such as IBM Watson Tone Analyzer (Requires an IBM Cloud Account or Trial for this service). Using this integration, Web Content Manager authors can apply inline, real-time AI powered analytics services that process text, and can obtain feedback related to emotions that are likely to be experienced by people who read your content. This can help content authors refine their targeted communications for enhanced customer engagement and support.
Configure IBM Watson Content Hub as a Digital Asset Management service in Web Content Manager
With the new Web Content Manager plugin for Watson Content Hub, WCM V9 content authors can add WCH images, files, videos, or html assets directly to the rich text or image elements on WCM content items. This new plugin delivers many benefits, including seamless integration in the Web Content Manager authoring environment and dialogs. Watson Content Hub digital assets are available for selection using WCM inplace editing for image, file, html or rich text elements. When rendered through Web Content Manager V9 pages, the Watson Content Hub assets are served by the CDN of Watson Content Hub, improving speed and availability. In addition, Web Content Manager IT leads can gain efficiencies by offloading digital asset storage to the WCH cloud-based CMS platform.
Updated guidance is provided to assess Portal Access Control assignments to your WCM libraries, and improve Web Content Manager performance. The Portal Access Control Optimizer task can be run to eliminate redundant mappings, where applicable.
CF 15 also introduces WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager V8.5 and V9 support for Windows Server 2016, and other component updates. See the Software Product Compatibility Reports (SPCR) tool for WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager V8.5 and 9 for more information.
The ‘What’s New’ section of the Digital Experience wiki knowledge center pages provide detailed information on the CF15 platform updates and new features, and how they can be applied to WebSphere® Portal and Web Content Manager version 8.5 and 9.0.
In addition, there are additional fixes integrated to this latest DX V8.5 and V9 CF15 release. You can see a list of those on the IBM FixCentral page: Recommended Updates for WebSphere Portal and IBM Web Content Manager V8.5 and V9.0 http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24037802
