WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager V8.5 and 9 customers can now apply the new features available in WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager continuous feature and fixpack (CF) release 16.
Beginning with the release of IBM WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager V8.5, the IBM Digital Experience (DX) technical leads have delivered a steady stream of ‘continuous feature and fixpack’ (CF) releases’ that can be applied to DX solutions. These CF packages can add valuable new features and enhancements to your deployments, and are cumulative, so that all updates are carried forward to subsequent CF releases.
The WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager V8.5 and V9 CF 16 extends the continuous delivery model and provides new (and cumulative) enhancements and fixes for customers using the DX Version 8.5 and Version 9 platform.
What’s New in the Combined Cumulative Fix (CF) 16?
The Combined Cumulative Fix (CF 16) introduces new features and updates that improve Web Content Manager performance, offers new authentication support for OAuth2, improves platform upgrade management and presents Site Toolbar customization options. This release also includes GDPR information for customers preparing for GDPR readiness.
New authentication support for OAuth2.0
The platform Outbound HTTP Connection services now support the connection of remote sites, such as Twitter, Dropbox, or Facebook, which are protected with a OAuth 2.0 authentication protocol. WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager CF 16 adds details for platform administrators to configure this support with authentication flows, such as password credentials, client credentials, and stored authentication token flows. In addition, URL transformation support is added to authenticate the outbound HTTP connection services when required. With the new URL transformation feature administrators can add, or modify the URL settings or the URL path when they include query parameters or POST body content that isn’t known or cannot be known at the client site.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Clients are responsible for ensuring their own compliance with various laws and regulations, including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation. IBM WebSphere® Portal and IBM Web Content Manager are on-premise products installed and operated by the customer. In this scenario, IBM is neither a controller nor a processor as defined by the GDPR.IBM WebSphere Portal and DB2® software supports both, controllers and processors, with their available features in preparing for GDPR readiness. Additional information is available in the WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager Knowledge Center.
Improved Platform Performance
CF16 software updates improve Web Content Manager performance with optimized role mapping processes for WCM components. Also reference guidance provided to assess Portal Access Control assignments to your WCM libraries, and improve Web Content Manager performance. The Portal Access Control Optimizer task can be run to eliminate redundant mappings, where applicable.
Site Toolbar Customization Options
New guidance is available to customize site toolbar layouts, by adding theme metadata to the theme deployment file. Options include a List of layout(s) that should be presented to certain users, and ability to define new custom layouts.
