# Use a Microsoft Excel workbook to provide input data in DOcloud

I’m pleased to announce that you can use an Excel workbook in place of a `.dat`

or `.json`

file to provide input data in DOcloud. Moreover, you can retrieve the results of your solve in an Excel workbook.

In a few lines, how does it work ?

**To use an Excel workbook as input data:**

- you create as many worksheets as there are elements in your model,
- each sheet should have as many columns as you have in the data structure.

Here’s an example of what this looks like:

```
tuple parameters {
int maxTrucks;
int maxVolume;
}
parameters Parameters = ...;
```

**To retrieve the results in an Excel workbook:**

- with DropSolve, if you drop an Excel file along with your model, you will get back the results in an Excel workbook,
- using the DOcloud API, you specify the output format when you create the job, using the
`oaas.resultsFormat`

parameter.
