A new place for me to talk about one of the things I’m most passionate about?! A place to wax eloquent about the sheer awesomeness that is developerWorks®; the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make it so; the amazing authors – truly some of the smartest, most dedicated, most knowledgeable people you’ll ever meet anywhere! – and all the cool things you can find here to make your job easier?! Hoo boy, don’t get me started! Let me show you my baby pictures! 🙂

As Editor in Chief and manager of the developerWorks content team, my job is to help define and execute the content strategy for dW. I work with IBM gurus, industry leaders, and mostly (of course) developers to determine what topics we should cover, and then find the best experts to write about them. I lead a team of content managers who make it their business to keep their fingers on the pulse of the technology zeitgeist: who’s doing what, what’s trending, and why it matters to developers.

These folks have a passion for knowledge about leading technologies and they really get how to communicate super-complex technical topics in a compelling way for developers.

Our content spans a broad range of IBM and open-standards topics of interest to developers. Every single week – in fact, every single day – we publish new how-to tutorials and articles, recipes, videos, courses, blogs, forums, and answers. Every month, over 4.5 million developers (yeah, we’re pretty proud of that!) come to dW to read our award-winning content, try out new tools and services, get answers, and connect with each other.

Late last year, we even launched a new developer program we call dW Premium that gives you insider access to powerful tools, resources, and support to enable you to quickly prototype, develop, and deploy cloud projects. Get the scoop on all the benefits here.

I’m thrilled to have this new channel to tell you about some of the cool stuff going on here at dW, but I’d like to leave you with this – developerWorks is about YOU! We want to talk about what you want to know about. We’d love to hear your ideas for new topics, innovations, delivery formats, and more. Here are a few easy ways to reach us:

  • Want to write for us? Submit your idea here.
  • Have some feedback or a problem (eek!)? Let Sarochin, dW’s Client Success Manager, help you!
  • Want to reach out directly to some of the awesome content managers for each topic area? Look under “Worldwide content leads” on our contacts page.
  • Have ideas you’d like me to write about in this blog? Email me!

And now I’m off to IBM InterConnect 2016, where I hope to meet some of you! I assure you that what happens in Vegas won’t stay in Vegas this time. You’ll be hearing lots about all the exciting announcements and activities at InterConnect in the next few days from Desdemona, Julio, and others on the dW team. Stay tuned!
