Developers have always held a vital role for IBM – From the 1960s, when IBM technology and engineers came together to help put the first man on the moon, through the 1990s when IBM invested one-billion dollars in the Linux movement and open source developers, and now today, helping developers apply cognitive computing technologies in inventive ways.

Today, developers are driving critical decisions in the API economy, choosing the technology businesses are using to innovate and drive digital disruption. Their embrace of cognitive computing is growing rapidly, with IDC predicting that by 2018, 50% of developer teams will embed cognitive capabilities in their applications.

To be successful in this new era, developers will have to rely on new and stronger skills in the areas of machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence. They need these skills today to face the constant new challenges this era brings, challenges that have created a skills gap.

We at IBM are passionate about helping them grow to bridge this skills gap, whether you’re a developer working for yourself, a startup, or an enterprise team.

If you’re just getting started, or are considering testing the cognitive API waters, the IBM Learning Lab has more than 100 curated online courses and cognitive use cases to help guide, grow, and inspire developers. We have courses that cover a variety of topics, including Cloud, Machine Learning, Watson Technology, and more. IBM developerWorks, our premier developer hub, contains a plethora of resources to learn, develop, and connect with fellow developers from across the globe. You can even find local workshops, meetups, hackathons, and more at the developerWorks Events page. If you’re within the world of academia, the IBM Academic Initiative has tools and resources for students and educators alike.

But if you’re ready to dive into cognitive development, it’s important you differentiate yourself. Enter the IBM Watson Application Developer Certification – a global program designed to help developers distinguish and validate their skills, as well as connect with companies looking to leverage their unique talent. As developers continue to propel this innovation forward, we’re finding that companies are increasingly hungry for better ways to identify the best talent to build enterprise and consumer-focused cognitive solutions.

The exam is offered through a third-party, Pearson VUE, and can be taken at any of their test centers in 175 countries around the world. It will also be offered at all IBM conferences, including the upcoming World of Watson forum this month in Las Vegas and in November at our Watson Developer Conference in San Francisco. We’ve provided a library of resources for applicants to learn more and to help prepare for the exam, including digital study guides, sample tests and learning labs.

I clicked the above link “IBM Watson Application Developer Certification” and it took me to a generic page but could not get to the specific certification.
