Hello, friends! I think if you’ve been keeping up with our blogs up until now, we’re close enough that I can warrant calling you a “friend.” Quick thanks for being interested in our life here in the Big Blue and everyone else who’s come up to us and tell us our blogs are great! We’ve learned so much, and we’re happy that you’re enjoying what we’ve been sharing 🙂
Today was the most unique day out of all the days we’ve been here so far. We had a full 9-to-5 Design Thinking workshop over at Galvanize! What do you get when you put a bunch of cool IBMers from all over the country in one small IBM room? Brilliance, that’s what. You can see the brilliance in the amount of Post-it notes up on the board. Look at Madison contributing to the success!
Design Thinking is when we programmers and creators think about our users in order to make sure that what we’re designing serves their needs. One of the core steps of Design Thinking is hashing out what our user feels, says, thinks, and does, which is an exercise that we three did at the workshop in the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program last summer. The workshop this time was a way amped up version of it, which was pretty cool! It was fun listening to and learning from all the adults there. It was also nice finally meeting Janine and Phaedra in person after so many Zoom calls! And another highlight was definitely catching up with Dennis again and meeting Matt. They’re both the coolest.
Also an important note – we also got free breakfast and lunch. That’s totally a plus, too 🙂
Catch you guys soon!
