CGI U and IBM in conjunction with The Australian National University’s Humanitarian Innovation Society (ANU HISoc), are pleased to host a one-week inter-collegiate virtual hackathon commencing on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 10:00am AEST. The weekend (August 8th and 9th) is focused on a series of livestreamed workshops that aim to identify the unique challenges posed during a global pandemic, followed by a five-day design sprinting gap where participants work to develop solutions. Participants will pitch their solutions to a panel of judges on Saturday, August 15, 2020 through submitted videos.
This event is organized for students of all academic backgrounds to share ideas and design innovative ways to defend communities against a pandemic. Students can register as individuals or with a team.
Experts from academia, nonprofits, government, and tech sectors will deliver a series of workshops and mentor participants, focusing on three tracks:
1. Strengthening healthcare systems in developing countries
2. Creating faster and more efficient resource allocation systems
3. Innovating better technology to prevent or minimise infection
