Code Camp NYC, October 12
October 12, 2019
The idea of a Code Camp is really quite simple: attendees pay a nominal fee to attend a community-driven software development conference where the focus is on code samples and demos rather than Powerpoint-style content presentations. Code Camp sessions are offered by developers, for developers and are typically delivered by people active in the local software development community rather than by ‘professional speakers’ or book authors. Code Camp attendees are usually software developers from the local region and beyond.
Code Camp as a concept arose out of a desire to try to offer software-development-conference-like experiences to developers that lacked the time or financial resources to attend any of the for-fee software development conferences for which attendance alone (never mind travel and lodging) can often run into the $1,500-$3,000 range (or more, in many cases). Since Code Camp encourages professionals from the local software development community to submit session outlines and volunteer to speak, it’s also a great proving-ground for people who want to gain experience in delivering presentations to audiences of software developers.
