From developers for developers.
Leveraging more than one cloud plattfom becomes more and more popular and many companies will partner with several cloud providers in order to stay flexible and competative.
In this Lunch and Learn our IBM Development Lab collegue Jens Müller will show how he and his team adressed challenges of running the IBM Cloud Pak for Data service in a Multi-Cloud environment.
We will get insights into some of the common hurdles teams have to overcome – like scattered knowledge and documentations spread over several environments or data running outdated very quickly due to missing automation – and of course how they were adressed by Jens and his team, as they decided to implement a Python-based command line interface (CLI) using best practices from other cloud platform CLIs.
Together we will go through all the different steps and ideation processes right from the beginning to eventually turning the CLI into a generic operations CLI for Cloud Pak for Data that is available as open source.
Next to some great development insights you will also get to take a look on this brand new CLI and its features
Jens Müller has been a software engineer at IBM for more than ten years. He works on Db2 Data Gate, which is a Cloud Pak for Data service that allows accessing Db2 for z/OS data without accessing Db2 for z/OS. He studied computer science and holds a doctoral degree in computer science from the University of Tübingen.
