[Crowdcast] Building cloud-native AI-infused web apps with Node-RED

London

December 3, 2020 5:00 pm GMT

In this workshop, participants will learn how to use Node-RED to create a photo booth web app infused with AI through the use of TensorFlow. The workshop will step through getting started with Node-RED, creating the web app and then containerising it, ready to be deployed into the cloud or onto edge devices.

During the workshop we’ll be stepping through the material, showing you how it all works. You can either follow along in real-time, or just sit back, enjoy the show and give it a go yourself afterwards.

The workshop material will be available to download at the start of the session. In the meantime, you’ll need:

– A laptop/computer with a Web Cam attached that can be accessed from your browser
– Node.js 12.x or 14.x
– Git
– Docker Desktop – this is required for the final step where you’ll containerise the application you create. This is optional.

The photo booth will perform simple object recognition. To help test it, you may want to have some objects like a cup, apple or banana to hand to see what it can do!

Finally, you may want to spend a bit of time familiarising yourself with Node-RED – https://nodered.org.
