This short video (< 5 minutes) explains the basics of using SQL to query data stored in a Hadoop cluster. ¬†You’ll learn about the breadth of SQL support available and compare a query executed against a relational DBMS with a query executing against a SQL-on-Hadoop implementation (IBM’s Big SQL). ¬†This video is part of a larger collection of videos covering query analytics with Apache Hadoop.

Presented by IBM’s Cynthia Saracco, this video is part of the open Data-X project curated by Ikhlaq Sidhu, Chief Scientist and Founding Director, Sutardja Center, UC Berkeley and Roberto V. Zicari, Frankfurt Big Data Lab, Goethe University, Frankfurt and Visiting Scholar, UC Berkeley. Additional Data-X materials are available through ODBMS.org.
