Over the last couple of years a lot has been written and talked about Blockchain technology. We are witnessing a strong inclination towards adoption of Blockchain technology across wide spectrum of usecases. Blockchain technology is here to stay and has made a strong statement in favour of its adoption and impact.

Enterprises have been exploring various usecases with the technology and integrating with existing business processes to add transparency and efficiency to the system. However, with all the efforts being put in adoption and experimentation, there is still a wide gap between what Blockchain Developers/ Start-ups are working on and what Corporate are looking for.

NASSCOM Industry Partnership Program (NIPP) is looking towards building a comprehensive blockchain forum for enterprises, start-ups, developers, experts, and enthusiasts to come together and explore new opportunities for ideation and collaboration by hosting NIPP Blockchain Hackathon (http://nipp.tech/blockchainchallenge). The participants can make submissions online for the initial stages of hackathon, the hack is open to developers from Enterprises, GIC, Start-ups and Individuals.

IBM is partnering with NIPP Blockchain hackathon offering technical mentoring to the participants and assisting in getting started with Blockchain technology using IBM Cloud and code patterns. As a part of this hackathon, IBM is hosting enablement sessions on Blockchain in 6-cities as per the plan below. I would strongly urge developers keen to pick up on Blockchain skills to join this learning opportunity and register on the hackathon site to leverage the opportunity.

NASSCOM has published usecases across multiple domains as pointed below, these usecases have been identified and enriched by multiple Enterprise partners working with Nasscom to facilitate the Blockchain hackathon including IBM.

A participant can register on Nasscom Blockchain hackathon site (http://nipp.tech/blockchainchallenge) pick one of the themes available and conceptualize a solution around the idea in the first phase of the hackathon. The shortlisted ideas will be supported by mentors from partners invited to the pre-hackathon meetup at 6 cities across India. The finalist will be invited to the hackathon in Bangalore on 28 & 29 July 2018 to develop MVP and get support from mentors and domain experts in their pursuit. The finale provides a great platform to the participants for pitching their solutions to the very best in the industry and validate their Blockchain ideas and getting connected to mainstream of Blockchain professionals.

To quick start your journey of attaining Blockchain skills, I have put together few links to assist in getting off the ropes quickly. To learn more about the Blockchain service offered on IBM cloud, leverage the Starter plan offered for free, more details available on –
https://console.ng.bluemix.net/docs/services/blockchain/index.html

To get support in understanding developing solutions with Hyperledger and IBM Blockchain, refer to link below to leverage code patterns on Blockchain which give a 360-degree view of the underlying code, including overviews, architecture diagrams, process flows, repo pointers, and additional reading.
