Mike is a AI lawyer that helps lawyers get legal research done faster with higher relevance so they can focus on their clients using cognitive computing, machine learning, etc. For the last 20 years lawyers have been using historic legal softwares that take too much time and effort to research through and have an extremely outdated experience. The vision for mike is to be part of every legal team in India.
Hello, please walk us through your entrepreneurial journey and background before you started? Any interesting stories.
Before Mikelegal I co-founded a personalized fashion discovery engine called Fabence.com. It was one of the early players in the market looking to tackle to problem of fashion discovery. That was my first stint as an entrepreneur and that journey taught me a lot in terms of team building, product management and fund raising.
Tell us something about founding team?
We have a very strong founding team. There are 3 founders each having a diverse background and complimentary skills. Following is brief on each of the founders:
Anshul Gupta: Major product and design person. Founded Fabence in second year of college raising USD 100k , Ex SRCC. Handles product, design and marketing at Mike.
Ankit Yadav: Was head of software incubator at Ajay Kumar Garg college of engineering. Been coding since last 6 years building multiple applications. Implemented multiple applications involving image recognition, semantic analysis etc. Handles the technology aspect at Mike.
Tushar Bhargava: Law graduate of Bharati Vidyapeeth’s New Law College, Pune. He is a registered Trademark Attorney and Partner of Marcas, an Intellectual Property firm. He is focused on training Mike about the law, building the content team and client on boarding.
Tell us little about your product/ platform
Mike is an enterprise solution built using AI allowing it to be a lawyer assistant that gets legal research done for human lawyers so they can focus on higher profits and more clients. Using advanced AI Mike is able to scout through millions of documents to give you the most relevant answer by understanding the context and intent of your research.
Tell us about your customer traction
We have multiple law firms and corporates currently signed up for our private beta and using Mike.
How has your association with IBM helped you differentiate and grow?
Partnering with IBM has helped us improve our product significantly. Being part of the GEP has allowed us to get tremendous support from the IBM team and on call sup- port that has allowed us to seamlessly build our application and give a great experience to our customers.
What has been your experience using the IBM Bluemix Cloud platform?
Our experience with IBM Bluemix cloud platform has been great. We found all the material that was needed to understand the Bluemix platform and felt it was extremely easy to use and deploy. Moreover, any doubts or issues we faced were looked upon immediately by the support team helping us reach go to market extremely fast.
What role does a strong technology platform play in your product/solution and how has it helped you differentiate?
Having a strong technology platform is vital for the success of our startup. The legal market has seen little innovation in the last 5 -6 years and therefore being innovative is the foundation on which we want to build Mike. Partnering with IBM has allowed us to build that foundation and create experiences for our customers unlike anyone else. Using services in IBM bluemix allowed us to build Mike the way we had envisioned and we are extremely excited as to how these services would help us improve in the future too.
What is your road ahead for your start-up?
Our biggest focus rite now is to gain market feedback and grow our client base. We are also expanding to new verticals of the law and introducing various new features in the market very soon.
