You can get started with IBM App Connect on IBM Cloud for free, and when ready can upgrade to a choice of Pay As You Go (PAYG) plans or Custom Subscription options.

IBM App Connect Professional and Enterprise are also available as fully-configurable software that can be deployed on premises, on your own private cloud, or on a public cloud.

Getting started with IBM App Connect for free

  • If you already have an IBM ID, you can login and then add IBM App Connect to your set of IBM Cloud services.

To get started with the Lite plan, you can explore resources like the FAQ, “how to” guides for apps and the tutorials, and videos.

If you want to get started creating enterprise integrations, to run in App Connect on IBM Cloud or on premises (or other cloud deployment options), you can get started with App Connect Enterprise (software) and its powerful Enterprise Toolkit as a free trial of IBM App Connect Enterprise for Developers.

Upgrading to Professional or Enterprise plans

If you want to do more than the Lite plan enables in IBM App Connect on IBM Cloud, you can choose to upgrade to a choice of Pay As You Go (PAYG) or Custom Subscription options for the Professional and Enterprise plans for IBM App Connect on IBM Cloud.

Likewise, if you are on the Professional plan, you can choose to upgrade to a choice of PAYG or Custom Subscription options for the Enterprise plan for IBM App Connect on IBM Cloud.

You can also choose to upgrade from a PAYG plan to a Custom Subscription plan.

  • Professional PAYG plan: A flexible, pay-as-you-go plan to connect cloud and on-premise applications, as automated event-action flows and RESTful API flows, with no restriction on the number of active flows.

Note: This plan does not support deployment of enterprise integrations in App Connect on IBM Cloud (by importing BAR files). To continue running enterprise integrations in App Connect on IBM Cloud, when upgrading from the Lite plan choose the Custom Enterprise plan.

  • Custom Professional: A subscription plan that provides you with more capacity to run event-driven flows and flows for APIs, starting at 50,000 flow runs with 50 GB data out.

Note: This plan does not support deployment of enterprise integrations in App Connect on IBM Cloud (by importing BAR files). To continue running enterprise integrations in App Connect on IBM Cloud, when upgrading from the Lite plan choose the Custom Enterprise plan.

  • Custom Enterprise: A subscription plan that enables you to run reserved instance integration servers, and event-driven flows and flows for APIs.

See the summary below: Features of IBM App Connect – Professional and Enterprise plans

When you upgrade your plan, all the assets (flows, integrations, …) that you have configured are kept, but are stopped to enable upgrade and you will need to start them again.

Why choose PAYG or Subscription?

PAYG is best for flexible, short-term workloads, for which you are billed for the flows that you run up to your monthly quota.
Custom Subscriptions provide customised benefits and is best for committed workloads, for which you pay an annual renewable charge.

    • Custom Subscription (by Custom plans): best for committed workloads

If you purchase a Custom Subscription for IBM App Connect you get one year of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance), which provides enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.

The initial period of that subscription can be extended by paying an annual renewable charge.

If you purchase a Custom Subscription for IBM App Connect, you also get entitlement to the capabilities of IBM App Connect Professional on Cloud. These capabilities, provided by Studio and the web management console and designed for integration developers and core IT departments, support migration or adoption of any SaaS-based solutions by line of business or department users, and make it simpler to expose services for business users and partners.
