IBM Integration Bus provides a universal integration capability that addresses a wide range of integration scenarios. These scenarios include web services such as SOAP and REST, messaging, database, file, ERP systems, mobile, physical devices, email, custom systems and more.
The IBM Integration Bus Manufacturing Pack builds on the capabilities that are offered by IBM Integration Bus, such as transformation, routing, security, monitoring and administration, adding industry specific function to provide faster integration between manufacturing applications and production automation devices.
In a factory or plant, sensors, devices, and programmable logic controllers (PLC) send data to an OPC server or to a PI Server. The IBM Integration Bus Manufacturing Pack provides clients to read, write, and pull data from these servers so that you can integrate your factory data in other manufacturing applications, at the factory level, the enterprise level or both.

The IBM Integration Bus Manufacturing Pack includes a Factory Publication pattern. With this pattern, you can rapidly create a manufacturing integration solution that takes information from an OPC-UA server or an OSIsoft PI Server, and then retransmits this information over a selected transport for use in another application.
The following output transports are supported:

- MQ output
- File – Real-time output
- File – Batched output
- MFT – Real-time output
- MFT – Batched output
The IBM Integration Bus Manufacturing Pack includes an OPC Classic client that reads and writes data to an OPC Classic Server.
The IBM Integration Bus Manufacturing Pack includes an OPC UA client that reads and pulls data from an OPC UA Server.
The IBM Integration Bus Manufacturing Pack includes an OSIsoft PI client that reads and pulls data from an OSIsoft PI Server or a PI Collective.
The IBM Integration Bus Manufacturing Pack includes a MQTT client to connect to applications and devices that send and receive messages by using the MQ Telemetry Transport (MQTT) messaging protocol. (MQTT is a lightweight publish/subscribe messaging protocol that facilitate the transmission of data from remote locations.)
The MQTT messaging protocol provides robust messaging features for communicating with remote systems and devices, and also minimizes network bandwidth and device resource requirements. The protocol is designed for devices in constrained environments, such as embedded systems, cell phones, and sensors with limited processing ability and memory, and for systems that are connected to unreliable networks. The MQTT protocol is ideal for the machine-to-machine, or Internet of Things, world of communication.
The IBM Integration Bus Manufacturing Pack includes a web user interface that summarizes information about your manufacturing integration solution.
The Operational Monitoring view: This view helps you monitor the operational status of a manufacturing integration solution that you generate from the Factory Publication Pattern.
The Manufacturing Integration view: This view helps you monitor the manufacturing tags that are read from your sensors, devices or PLC components, and the IBM Integration Bus resources that are associated with those tags. You can check whether the required tags are being read, and identify a problem with data from a particular tag.
