This blog post is to inform you about an upcoming change in behavior when devices are deleted from the IBM Watson IoT Platform.

Previously, when a device was deleted from the registry then it would be allowed to continue to interact with the IoT Platform until it disconnected.  When it attempted to reconnect to the IoT Platform the connection attempt would be refused.

With long lived connections, that could potentially allow a deleted device to remain connected for a long time.

To improve the security of the IoT Platform, we will shortly change this behavior so that devices are immediately disconnected when they are deleted.

This means that if you identify a device which is behaving in an unusual way, you can quickly take steps to prevent it continuing to interact with the IoT Platform.
