The NetApp ONTAP Insight Pack allows one to use IBM Operations Analytics â€“ Log Analysis to analyze error logs from the NetApp ONTAP filer. The Insight Pack includes sample searches and a forwarder service to collect log messages from your NetApp ONTAP devices making them available to Log Analysis.
The delivered IBM NetApp ONTAP Insight Pack file is comprised of three archive files:
- Insight Pack: NetAppOntapInsightPack_v188.8.131.52.zip
- NetApp ONTAP Insight PackLog Forwarder: netappontapforwarder-184.108.40.206.tar.gz
- Sample searches: netappontap_searches.tar.gz
Will be loaded inside the Log Analysis tool.
Can be installed on same host as the Log Analysis tool, or on a remote host.
Optional included sample searches.
For the NetApp ONTAP Insight Pack to operate correctly within IBM Operations Analytics – Log Analysis two components are required to be installed:
- The NetApp ONTAP Insight Pack
- The NetApp ONTAP Forwarder
The NetApp ONTAP filer generates Log messages. These can be retrieved with the help of SSH and the ONTAP readfd command. The NetApp ONTAP forwarder is the component that will collect the necessary log information from the NetApp ONTAP appliance. It uses SSH to pull the log content, parse it then forward the data to Log Analysis using the routines provided in the NetApp ONTAP Insight Pack.
