Oracle WebLogic Server Insight Pack

Overview

The Oracle WebLogic Server Insight Pack gives customers support to ingest data from the WebLogic Server Server Logs into IBM Operations Analytics – Log Analysis. They can then use a rich set of analytical dashboards to visualize metadata and derived metrics from log content, along with performing additional queries on the content.

This dashboard displays charts for the Oracle WebLogic Server hosts based on the severity level in the WebLogic Server Log. These charts display the top 5 hosts with max emergency, alert, critical and error severity logs.

Oracle WebLogic Web Server Health Dashboard

This dashboard displays charts for the Oracle WebLogic Server hosts based on the HTTP response status in the WebLogic Server HTTP Access Log. These charts display the top 5 hosts with max HTTP server and client errors per the response status.

Oracle WebLogic Server Dashboard

This dashboard displays charts for the Oracle WebLogic Server instances on a particular host based on the severity level in the WebLogic Server Log. These charts display the server names with emergency, alert, critical and error severity logs distributed over a configured time period.

Oracle WebLogic Web Server Dashboard

This dashboard displays charts for the Oracle WebLogic Server instances on a particular host based on the HTTP response status in the WebLogic Server HTTP Access Log. These charts display server names with HTTP server and client errors per the response status.

Oracle WebLogic Node Manager Health Dashboard

This dashboard displays charts for the Oracle WebLogic Server hosts based on the severity level in the WebLogic Node Manager Log and WebLogic Node Manager Server Instance Log. The first chart displays the top 5 hosts with max severe messages for the Node Manager log. The second chart displays the top 5 hosts with severe, emergency, alert, critical, and error messages for the Node Manager Server Instance log.

Quick Searches

The Oracle WebLogic Server Insight Pack includes “Quick Searches” so users can create saved searches for a keyword or a series of keywords. You can run the searches at a later time from the Saved Searches pane. The following default searches are included:

  • Common Patterns: These searches are simple or common strings used while looking for different problems such as error, fatal, critical, failure, warning, and so on in the logs.
  • Functional Searches: These searches are specific searches used while looking for specific and detailed data known to impact the functional areas. You can also use these searches to look for specific patterns known to indicate performance or availability issues.

Additional information

The Insight Pack includes support for ingesting and performing metadata searches against the following WebLogic Server related log file records.

  • WebLogic Server Log: .log
  • WebLogic Server HTTP Access Log: access.log
  • WebLogic Server Node Manager Log: nodemanager.log
  • WebLogic Server Node Manager Server Instance Log: .out
  • Where is the name of the configured Oracle WebLogic Server.

This includes information about events such as startup and shutdown of servers, deployment of new applications, failure of one or more subsystems, and so on. The messages include information about the date and time of the event as well as the user ID of the user who initiated the event. The default file name for WebLogic Server Log is .log where, is the name of the configured Oracle WebLogic Server.
