IBM Software Development Kit for Linux on Power (SDK)
This list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) describes some common problems you may run into while using components of the SDK for Linux on Power and their solutions.
Depending on the firewall configuration of your development machine, the simulator might not be able to access the external network during the boot.
A solution to this problem is to add Mambo network traffic on iptables or firewall:
sudo iptables -I FORWARD -s 172.20.0.0/16 -i tap_systemsim -j ACCEPT && sudo iptables -I FORWARD -d 172.20.0.0/16
-o tap_systemsim -j ACCEPT
When using the Debian LE disk image, during the simulator startup or shutdown, the process might appear to be hung, with the message “LSB raise network interfaces”.
This is a known issue in the newest Debian versions and fixes for it should be provided as normal distro updates. You can find more information on https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=754218
During the startup, the simulator tries to resolve the hostname of the current system from /etc/hostname.
Make sure that the hostname in /etc/hostname matches at least one entry in the /etc/hosts local resolver. This avoids “Unknown host” errors during the simulator startup
