The North American DevOps for Enterprise Systems User Group event is a yearly meeting of z/OS software development specialists with a focus on modern z/OS development tools and practices. It’s a great way to grow skills, knowledge and your professional network. The main objective of the meeting is to give the attendees an opportunity to meet one another in person, share experiences and ideas, as well as learn about and influence the direction of IBM Z DevOps software. This year’s meeting will take place on July 16-18th, 2019 in Research Triangle Park, NC.
The meeting originated several years ago with a focus only on Rational Developer for System z (RDz). During the last few years the RDz name has changed to IBM Developer for z Systems (IDz) and the scope of the user group meeting has expanded to include other DevOps for the Enterprise software. This year sessions will include presentations about DevOps for the mainframe, using open source tools in a DevOps pipeline, the Next Gen Dev Experience for IBM Z, Unit Testing Z applications, new features of IBM Developer for z Systems (IDz), IBM Dependency Based Build, Rational Team Concert (RTC), Application Delivery Foundation for z Systems, Application Discovery and Delivery Intelligence among others. The presentations, demonstrations and roundtable discussions are of interest to mainframe application developers, architects, technical managers, DevOps engineers or system programmers. Whether you are currently using the latest versions of the aforementioned software, or your organization is planning an upgrade, or if you are just starting to use modern mainframe tools in your company, then learning opportunities exist for you and your colleagues.
The user group meeting is an opportunity to learn from and network with peers from other companies involved in DevOps and Enterprise Modernization activities. If you have a question there is a good chance someone else in the audience has a similar challenge or possibly has already addressed it. By listening and talking to other user group attendees you may hear about a solution or implementation that sparks an idea for improvement in your own project. Sessions are given by members of the user group as well as IBMers. If you have a topic you would like to talk about let me know! In addition there is ample opportunity for one on one discussions with members of the IBM development lab and IBM DevOps for Z Systems IT Specialists.
