Installation of IBM MQ components on Windows using Command Line

This document will show how user can install the specific components of IBM MQ on windows explorer on windows platform.
If user wants to install suppose “MQ Server and Client” components only by command line and upgrade using latest Fixpack , below is the steps followed to perform the installation.
First user needs to either copy the MQ response.ini or edit the existing Response.ini (present in the driver directory) file as below

In Response Stanza

[Response] ADDLOCAL=”Server,Client”
REMOVE=””
;

Or if user wants to install all components except MFT

ADDLOCAL=”Server,XR_Service,AMS,Explorer,Client,samples,JavaMsg,Toolkit,gskitsupport,runtime,man,javaclient,jreinstall”
REMOVE=””

Below mentioned parameters are optional, if user wants to install IBM MQ on non default location, in that case below details should be added along with above mentioned details in Response.ini file

[Response] PGMFOLDER=”C:\Program Files (x86)”
DATFOLDER=”C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere MQ”
LOGFOLDER=”C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere MQ”

Where as
PGMFOLDER – //***Folder for the IBM MQ program files //
DATFOLDER – //**Folder for the IBM MQ data files***//
LOGFOLDER – //***Folder for the IBM MQ queue manager log files***///

If Multiple installations of IBM MQ all use the same LOGFOLDER and DATAFOLDER.

After making the Response.ini file present in the MQ driver path EX: WMQv8.0\server\CIWN7ML\Response.ini

Once the Changes made, Open the command prompt, route to the MQ driver path location and execute the below command to install MQ v x GA.

msiexec /i “MQ driver path\MSI\IBM WebSphere MQ.msi” /q SAVEINI=”Response.ini” TRANSFORMS=”1033.mst” AGREETOLICENSE=”yes” /l*v c:\install.log

/l*v c:\install.log – Will save the install log details (this is optional)

If user wants to upgrade the GA using Fixpack , user must update the Silent_install.resp according the Installation name, Installation Path and Installation data directory.

Route to the Fixpack driver path where install.exe is present and execute the below command.

WS-MQ-xxx-FPxxxx.exe -f \FP driver path\server\x.0.0-WS-MQ-Windows-FPxxx\silent_install.resp

Check for the process amqicsdn started in the task manager.
Once fixpack installation is done, check dspmqver and check for error log for any errors or FDC’s .

To uninstall IBM MQ, using command line, first note down the product code by issuing the command
