IBM MQ for HPE NonStop V8.0.3 is the third Continuous Delivery (CD) update for MQ NonStop version 8. This release provides another security update for OpenSSL, with V8.0.3 now using OpenSSL 1.0.2o.

There have also been improvements made to MQGET SET_SIGNAL with two new key features added. IPC close timeout is now configurable, so that the behaviour of the V8 SET_SIGNAL can be made to be similar for V5.3. In addition, there is now support for multiple SET_SIGNAL SSMGR processes. If there is significant SET_SIGNAL processing, SSMGRs can be configured by queue to spread the workload across multiple SSMGRs. For details on how to use these new features, see the IBM MQ for HPE NonStop V8.0 Knowledge Center Product Documentation.

Another SSL feature added to this release is that there is now a handshake reject for disabled ciphers. If ciphers are disabled, and old ones often are, port scanning tools will no longer see an accepted SSL handshake.

In addition, the release includes other usability enhancements and defect fixes. For a list of the APARs addressed in this release, see the Fix list for IBM MQ for HPE NonStop V8.0.x, though there have been other fixes made via feedback from the Beta program and internal system testing. For information on system requirements and limitation, see the IBM MQ for HPE NonStop V8 Product Readme.

How to get IBM MQ for HPE NonStop V8.0.3

IBM MQ for HPE NonStop 8.0.3 can be obtained from Passport Advantage, see the Downloading IBM MQ for HPE NonStop V8.0.3. It will also be made available soon for evaluation purposes via IBM’s Early Access (“Beta”) Program, in the same way as previous MQ NonStop V8 releases.

If you are not already in the Beta program, you can sign up by contacting your local IBM representative or the Beta program manager. You can then obtain the Beta release of the product which has the same functionally as the V8.0.3 GA release.

V8.0 Continuous Delivery Model

Under IBM’s standard Continuous Delivery policy, product fixes are only guaranteed for the two most recent CD releases. But given the frequency of recent releases to get security updates out, IBM will still continue to support all V8.0.x releases for now. However, IBM strongly encourages customers to upgrade to this latest V8.0.3 release as it contains the latest security updates and product fixes.
