Kabanero is an open source project that brings together foundational open source technologies into a modern microservices-based framework. This provides an end-to-end solution that enables you to architect, build, deploy, and manage the lifecycle of Kubernetes-based applications, faster.
Kabanero brings together architecture, development, and operations through the use of integrated collections and application stacks. Architects and operations can include their company’s standards for aspects like security and build pipelines customized for their developers use.
As companies modernize their infrastructure, they’re increasingly turning to containers to help them build and scale on cloud. However, not all companies have the resources or skills to maintain their existing operations and become experts in containers, Kubernetes, and Knative. Both Kubernetes and DevOps practices require developers to spend more time understanding infrastructure topics like Kubernetes security, networking and ingress.
Kabanero integrates the runtimes and frameworks that you already know and use (Node.js, Java, Spring, Swift) with development tools and a Kubernetes-native DevOps toolchain. Pre-built deployments to Kubernetes and Knative (using Operators and Helm charts) enable developers to spend more time developing scalable applications and less time understanding infrastructure.
This project is 100% open source and being developed in the open. Expertise from various disciplines, including containers, DevOps, microservices, cloud, and more is needed to help us create a solution that will help companies create cloud-native applications at scale.
