Dr. Carlos F. Lopez uses numerical methods to model complex biological processes and understand their relationship to cancer cell response to drug treatments. He works with a talented research group at Vanderbilt University and the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
They combine a physical and chemical theory with numerical methods in high-performance computing (HPC) environments to create systems-level descriptions of molecular signal processing networks and signal transduction cascades in cancer. This HPC-hosted methodology allows them to deepen the fundamental understanding of the rules that govern functional genomics and systems biology in the pursuit of new therapies for cancer.
