Hi there! We now bring you few more exciting features and fixes in our signature virtualization product – PowerVC. Today we’re officially releasing the 1.4.3 fix pack, which contains the following updates:
- Hitachi Global-active device (GAD)
With 1.4.3 fix pack, PowerVCsupports the Hitachi GAD feature. This feature allows you to register the Hitachi Global-active device (GAD) in PowerVC. Before using this feature, make sure you understand all requirements and restrictions. For details, visit our knowledge center.
- Support for IO throttling on IBM Storwize®
When SVC volume_type or storage template is configured with “qos:IOThrottling” and “qos:IOThrottling_unit” extra_specs, then IO rate is configured on volumes which are created based on this template.
- IBM PowerVC FlexVolume Driver support for OpenShift Container Platform
You can now use PowerVC with OpenShift Container Platform 3.x. IBM PowerVC FlexVolume Driver helps you to provision the persistent volumes for containers deployed on OpenShift Container Platform.
- Introducing the restricted administrator role
PowerVC now allows you to create a restricted administrator role known as “admin_asst”. Users with this role can perform all virtual machine, image, and volume lifecycle operations except Delete.
- PowerVC uses two more security headers now
PowerVC now uses X-XSS-Protection, and X-Content-Type-Options type HTTP security response headers in addition to HSTS.
Although a little less exciting than new support, a fix pack needs to have some fixes too. These are the APAR fixes included with this fix pack:
IT29738 — VM deploy fails while updating VLANs on an existing VEA.
IT29795 — Live capture fails when mirrored volume is attached to a VM.
IT29111 — PowerVC failed to add a storage when iSCSI is configured.
IT30090 — PowerVC self service user failed to deploy a VM.
IT30108 — PVM onboard fails when the volume belongs to NPIV and VSCSI.
IT30250 — PowerVC failed to keep all volumes in a single IO group even after setting use-one-iogrp
