I am gearing up for an exciting week in Las Vegas, attending IBM World of Watson Conference. As I’m looking through all of the sessions, my inner geek girl is thrilled to see such incredible promise for the future through cognitive technology – and some serious innovation from some amazing startups.

The spirit of entrepreneurship is evident through out the conference, including the cognitive concourse, where you can attend the Cognitive Build Experience, and witness some serious innovation from some IBM teams competing in a Cognitive Build challenge. During their pitch sessions throughout the day on Monday, they will have the opportunity to be judged by some of our successful IBM Global Entrepreneur startups.

Throughout the conference I’ll be checking out the Innovation Hub and Cognitive Concourse, where several of our startups will be exhibiting their solutions. I’ll be spending time with startups like Alpha Modus Research, Simple C, Opentopic, Influential Human Condition Safety, and IDAvatars.

Once again, The Cube will be streaming live from the event, and you can catch insights from our Chief Digital Officer, Bob Lord, as well as thought leaders like Prahant Bhuyan Co-founder, CEO, and Chairman of Alpha Modus Research, Andre Koenig, Co-Founder and Head Revenue/Strategy, Opentopic, and George Davis Creative Director/CEO of Quest Digital Interactive and professor emeritus at
Rutgers University.

Startups Prashant Bhuyan, Alpha Modus Research and Tanya Seajay, Founder and CEO of Orenda Software Solutions, will be joined by Chris Popple, Chief Digital Officer for Royal Bank of Scotland, to share their insights and lessons learned with the audience.


From Hype to Impact: Panel on Redefining Healthcare with Cognitive and Mobile Capabilities. This promises to be a game changer of a session, with Dan Pompilio, Simple C joining Chuck Hess from Bausch and Lomb Surgical and Heather LaPolt from Aetna for a panel moderated by Lori Feller – Partner, US Public Sector and Healthcare, IBM.

A first look: Cognitive Imbalance Forecasting API Marketplace. Join Prashant Bhuyan from Alpha Modus Research, along with Rahul Narain, IBM Chief Architect for API Solutions and Swan D’Souza, Associate Partner, GBS to learn about the new Alpha Modus Research API marketplace they are launching.

Join Jason McGee for a Spotlight session that will focus on how easy it is to go from idea to App with IBM Cloud. Citizen Analyst on the Rise: How Watson Analytics can Power Movements – Christopher Penn, VP Marketing Technology, Shift Interactive, will talk about how the rise of the citizen journalist has led to the rise of the citizen analyst – today’s newest fact checkers.
